The 30th Southeast Asian Games, hosted by the Philippines in 2019, put eleven nations and several thousand athletes in front of a regional television audience, and every venue had to satisfy international broadcast criteria from the opening whistle. Sense supplied the lighting for the field of play: 286 units of the MS1 Stadium Light, engineered, aimed and commissioned to deliver a maintained illuminance of 2,000 lux.
At the 2,000 lux benchmark the installation sits in the highest tier of FIFA and EN 12193 practice, supporting HD and 4K coverage as well as ultra slow-motion replay without camera flicker. Rather than using one beam pattern across the whole roof line, the optical package was assigned per pole position — narrow, medium and wide distributions mixed to raise vertical illuminance on the players while holding horizontal and vertical uniformity inside the qualifying band. Every luminaire carries an external anti-glare visor, so officials, goalkeepers and neighbouring stands are kept free of uncomfortable brightness. A flicker-free driver platform combined with high-CRI emitters ensures natural skin tones and true team colours reach the screen.
The system was delivered and commissioned on a compressed Games-ready schedule and has operated reliably through multiple seasons since. The organising committee accepted the installation at first handover, highlighted the absence of on-air flicker, and has since engaged Sense on follow-up venue upgrades.
