Three hundred lux is the practical working level for school physical education and indoor multi-purpose activity halls — bright enough for fast ball sports and for every student in the room to read the play clearly, but comfortable enough for everyday teaching use. The brief had two non-negotiables: uniformity, so no part of the hall feels dimmer than another, and glare control, because students spend long periods looking upwards during games.
